Sensations with horses
Sensations with horses
In the Northern Valleys are full of routes for horse-riding; open tracks which from time to time dive into the various types of woods (poplars, oaks, pines, etc...), follow the routes of the North Valira and the many streams which flow into the river; or descend the mountain slopes.
Riding any of these paths allows you to enjoy the Andorran mountains and see how they change throughout the year: in spring and summer the fields are adorned and scented with beautiful flowers; while in the autumn the woods offer a broad variety of yellow, deep red and ochre hues; and in winter everything is transformed under the snow.
More experienced horsemen can tackle the paths which run through the Sorteny Valley natural park or the
Iron Route
. Here the high mountain landscape is imposing, wild and unexpected and the different routes twist and turn through narrow craggy tracks, with many streams, springs and ravines.
But even if this is the first time you go horse-riding there are comfortable and simple routes to enjoy the surroundings and the experience of going about on horseback.
The starting points for these excursions are the centre
El Serrat
, a little mountain village deep in the valley of Ordino, has a horse-riding centre where you can hire a horse or enjoy a guided excursion to different parts of the valley.
